WHERE-MY-HUG-AT- GASTON
Just been asked this, decided to make a text post. I love seeing how we all freak out about what “I trust your message” must mean, but I’d like to also check out Ishida’s caption “OK牧場1” (lit. “OK pasture/farmland 1”) for those who might not get it. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s Ishida-Sensei’s latest artwork posted on his twitter.)
Explanation: Apparently, OK牧場 was made a “famous psychological term” by Guts Ishimatsu, a former boxing champion and current comedian/public figure. Stemming from his usage of the term on his blog, it’s just a colloquial term to describe one’s mental state. There are 4 numerical identifiers for different meanings of the term, respectively: ①We’re both OK ②I’m not OK but you are ③I’m OK but you’re not ④Neither of us are OK. Kinda like … a code, if you will. Ishida used ①, which means he’s reassuring fans “I’m ok, and you are too.”
See this article (JP, I mostly just summarized it all) for my source on the term.
there’s always, ALWAYS a tumblr blog you’re following that turns into a kpop blog without warning and you have absolutely no idea who they were before
Oh, oh!
I can actually explain the French one!
Back in ye olde days before the printing press everything you wanted 2+ copies of had to be copied by hand. So there were these people, known as “copiers”, who would, well, copy stuff.
Most kings paid by the word, but not the French king. He paid by the letter.
So, naturally, the copiers were like “Fuck it, let’s go nuts” and just stuffed half the alphabet into every word to make some extra cash.
Also, in contrast, no letters in Latin are silent. This is because things were often inscribed on stone, meaning ain’t nobody got time to waste on carving out letters that aren’t being used.
So Latin may have 7,638 different tenses and moods, but at least you know how to pronounce what’s written.
